Days 134 - 136 Armidale - Sydney - Toronto

When I got myself up from the ditch after my accident I had a brief terrible feeling that my trip is over. But as soon as I realized the amount of help and support I received locally and internationally I could sit down and think about my options.

Quitting was out of the question immediately after finding out I'm not seriously injured. Bruises and a couple of stiches won't stop me. While I was in Guyra hotel Jonathan from Sydney called me and offered me a place to stay and he started to organize the transportation of the bike to Hornsby. I will ship it back to Finland and make it run again.

Next question was how to continue in the US. I had basically four options of which one - using public transportation - was really not an option. The real options were: rental car, rental bike and buying a bike. Obviously I ended up in the last one.

Terry and Janelle had a good contact in LA. Tuckers buys bikes for overlanders and does all the necessary paperwork. I contacted him and soon I had a pile of options to look. Now all I need to do is decide what bike do I want.

Back to the timeline. I jumped on a train in Armidale. Someone had slept too late or something as the ticket office remained closed. But it didn't matter as the ticket could be bought in the train too. The trip took more than nine hours. But it wasn't bad. I had my kindle and music and I could buy food in the buffet. I took a little nap and enjoyed that slow motion.

In the evening I ended up in Sydney and took local train to Kings Cross station where Jonathan was waiting for me. He is amazing guy. After traveling from Sydney to London with a really old Royal Enfield he really understands what it feels like to travel. Over 90 breakdowns in 18 months really teaches a lesson.

I slept the night on the living room floor on top of camping mattresses but I slept so good. It really makes a difference for your sleep when you have a feeling that things will get organized.

Friday was my "Opera House -day". I took a walk to Royal Botanical garden and to the famous Sydney Opera House. On the way back I ate pizza in a small pizzeria. When I was paying the waiter asked me in Finnish whether I want a receipt. We had a nice chat about differences between Finland, Australia and California.

In the evening Jonathan took me to a local custom motorcycle manufacturer Deus. They had a premier party over there for a new short film "Written in the sand". It told about a father and a son who live far in the outback and ride there with classic motorcycles and manufacture surf boards about 1500 km away from the beach. Nice movie, beautiful sceneries, great shoots and amazing riding.

Too bad I didn't take any photos from the place. Merchandise and custom made bikes in a good looking vintage shop. Worth visiting if you're in Sydney. Of course everything is extremely expensive too.

Most of the Saturday I spent sorting out different things concerning my time in the US. Insurances of the bike in Finland etc. In the afternoon I jumped in a train again and traveled to Toronto.
