Days 38-40 Vladivostok

Saturday morning started with a walk to the old forts north of the city. The forts were build to defense the city after Japan-Russian war. The fortress was build as strong as it was possible during the time's knowledge at late 19th and early 20th century. The forts are mainly ruined but still you can go inside and walk in the hallways and even go under ground from one fort to another. It needs good legs as the stairs go down 200 m and then up as much.

As usual, the scenery was absolutely beautiful

More info about the fortress can be found in Wikipedia: Vladivostok Fortress

After walking back from the fort we had a little party at the clubhouse. Dima (from Yakutsk) had come to Vladivostok to buy a car. He had driven through the Road of Bones and made a video about it. You can find the video in Youtube: Road of Bones part I

On Sunday I went to see Heinrich and Anna. By accident I got my bike cleaned for free. I stopped at one car wash. One local biker came by and told they will wash my bike for free. "Present from Russian bikers". I only needed to make a video greeting for his club (sorry, I cannot remember the name of the club). What a great guy!! Biker Brothers are everywhere!!!

Later in the afternoon I went with Dima to Edward's garage to pick up bikes for us. We drove to the forts. Different one this time. I drove with an old 250 cc Honda. It was kind of funny bike to ride. Lightweight and small. With a bit better suspension and tires it would have been very nice. I just had trouble with it as I couldn't drive standing (the seat was falling off) and I couldn't remember the lack of power as I've used to Annie's torgue.

On Monday morning I packed all my belongings on Annie and followed freight agent Yuri to a new car wash. This time they really washed everything. Yuri was checking all the places with a flashlight and telling to the washer what to clean next. We put the bike to a van and went to Yuri's office to make the necessary paperwork with her secretary Svetlana who happens to be a huge fan of Finland and especially Finnish band H.I.M. She will even fly to St. Petersburg to see H.I.M live on their farewell tour. I have to admit that during my trip I've never heard as perfect English spoken by a Russian. If I didn't know I'd guess she's American. As far as I understand anything Yuri and his company are real professionals in this. So, if you need a container/shipping out/in of Vladivostok, send e-mail to Links ltd. You will reach Svetlana by svetlana.sen@links-ltd.com

Some might wonder where I'm shipping the bike. Well... It goes to a container with Heinrich and Anna's Toyota Land Cruiser and will arrive to Melbourne, Australia sometime in the beginning of December. Personally I'll fly to Tokyo on Thursday and from there to Bangkok next Tuesday. I have absolutely no idea what happens after Bangkok.
