Days 117-118 Toronto - Lake Wallace
33979 - 34340 361km
We'll... It happened that Mirco lost his wallet in Sydney. Partly because of that and bit of a long distance and unsuitable train schedules we were back in Toronto at around 8 in the morning. The new year's day turned out to be very sleepy. We packed our gear as ready as possible and took some time for resting. As a huge surprise some honest person had found the missing wallet and the police called in the afternoon. All we needed to do was to ride to Sydney to pick it up.
Our Tuesday started with a ride to the heart of Sydney. Lots of boring motorways, toll roads and traffic. Way too much traffic. But we got to the police station and Mirco got back his belongings. The most surprising thing is that the content of the walled was untouched.
After visiting the police we started to head west. Our goal was the same camping ground I stayed for a night less than a week ago. It's great for tenting (short grass and flat ground) and there's all the services you need (including shower). On the way Mirco's bike started to make weird noise. We stopped and searched for the cause but couldn't find anything. Within the next two kilometers the sound got really bad and we had to stop again. Luckily we found the reason for the noise and best of all it wasn't hard to fix. All the bolts of rear sprocket had gone loose. We don't know what caused that but the main thing is that we got the problem solved.
At Woolworths we got some fuel both for the bikes and ourselves. Dark clouds started to gather above us and sounds of thunder could easily be heard. In a short while it started to rain. And when it rains in Australia it really rains - a lot! We stopped at a fuel station to get some cover but it didn't help much as we already were totally wet. So quite soon we kept going on. We got a lot of water and even ice sized of a fingertip. Ice of that size really hurts in a speed of 80 km/h. But we could easily see that we were heading towards clear blue skies.
Eventually the rain stopped and we arrived in the camping ground. We pitched our tents, changed on some dry clothes and cooked some dinner. I got into my tent at around 10 p.m. and fell asleep almost immediately. Riding in the cold really took it's price.
