Days 99 - 101 Melbourne-Aire Crossing-Lake Alexandrina-Adelaine

28936 - 30179   1243km

Thursday was the day we all had been waiting for so long. We finally got our babies back. We started early at the hostel. We even skipped the morning pancakes to get to the shipping company early enough.

And there they were. Annie and Willie side by side in the hall. At first they told us to wait in front of the building but in couple of minutes they called us in to take care of our vehicles by ourselves.

After packing and organizing everything we took some fuel and went our separate ways. Heinrich and Anna left to north with Willie. I started heading west with Annie.

My aim was to drive the Great Ocean road and I had looked at Wikicamps that there was a free camping place in a state park. Going there included about 20km of gravel roads but it was definitely worth the driving. A small river run next to the camping ground. I just hanged my hammock and cooked some dinner and was ready to bed (I.e. hammock).

Starting early in Friday morning was definitely a good thing. I was at the twelve apostles so early that the huge mass of tourists hadn't arrived yet. I had a good chance to walk around the place and take photos of these huge limestone "statues". In twenty or even less years they'll all be gone.

Continuing along the Great Ocean road gave more and more beautiful places to see. One of the weirdest was definitely Blue lake. It is really blue!

I rode over 700km during Friday. In the evening I finally got to a free camping ground next to lake Alexandrina. I even had to take a ferry to get there. Very nice place and a couple of other campers there too. I was welocomed instantly and offered dood and whatever I needed. Thus really shoved the hospitality, generosity and friendliness of Australian people!

Saturday was easier day. It was easily 10 a.m. when I finally got myself away from the camp ground. I took a little longer route to Adelaide where I had a bed booked for 2 nights. Two ferries, some gravel roads to get to see a waterfall and a lot of beach. After getting to the hostel I walked nearby restaurant and ordered a pizza.

I just realized I've been on this trip for 100 days. It's time to sum up something.

Places I've seen:
Russia - it's massive!
Mongolia - the country of extremes
Tokyo - the world's biggest city
Bangkok - I don't like that place
Kuala Lumpur - friendly people
Singapore - clean city
New Zealand - mountains
Australia - "I'm good, mate..."

Things I've experienced:
Russian hospitality and help
Altay mountains
Running out of fuel in Mongolia
Gobi desert
Pushing bike out of the river
Riding while snowing
Trans Siberian Express
Speedway race
Tokyo local train during rush hour
Lights of Tokyo
Shopping malls of Bangkok
Scooter taxi
Helpful people in Malaysia
Light shows in Singapore
Absolute beauty of New Zealand

And great people I've met:
Andrei - travelers help each other
Tatjana - "of course I speak English"
Christian - thanks for the advice
Marius and Janine - my travel comrades in Mongolia
Natalia - so much laughter
Mike - crazy chef from the Philippines
Eddie and Mirco - let's take the train
Kirill, Edward and Oksana - you made my time in Vladivostok very good
Heinrich and Anna - so much fun
Colin and Andi - thanks for the places to stay overnight and all the hints

I probably forgot to mention something or someone but don't be offended. The memories will stay!
