Days 54-57 Bangkok-Helsinki

The beginning of my week felt warm. Mostly I spent my time wondering around Bangkok. As on Saturday I found out how to use the subway system I had plenty of Shopping malls to visit. Actually I didn't want to buy anything. I just wanted to wonder around the places and see how those places looked like. I sat in cafés and watched people walking by.

I have to say that the Thais really know how to make the buildings look fancy and expensive. Glass walls and high open spaces.







On Thursday morning it was time to say goodbye to Bangkok and traveling for a while. As I mentioned earlier I decided to take some time and visit home. I woke up at 3:30, packed the rest of my stuff and hopped into a taxi that drove me to the airport. I managed to get my back bag into plane and off I went. First flight was from Bangkok to Crabi i.e. Phuket Airport. The pane was almost empty and again I got a place next to emergency exit.




Crabi airport was packed with Russians returning from their holidays. And the airport was even smaller than the one in Vladivostok.



After the planes of the Russians had left the airport felt kind of empty. And so was our plane to Helsinki. According to my quick calculation there were less than thirty passengers on board.


But what a service!!! I've never ever had such a great service in a plane. The stewardesses really made everything in their power to make us passengers feel great. I have to give feedback at Finnair web pages about the service. It was so friendly and nice.





Spending time in Finland means I will not post much in this blog. But I will fly to Kuala Lumpur at November 21st. Pretty soon after that I will post more actively again. Stay tuned!

Days 38-40 Vladivostok

Saturday morning started with a walk to the old forts north of the city. The forts were build to defense the city after Japan-Russian war. The fortress was build as strong as it was possible during the time's knowledge at late 19th and early 20th century. The forts are mainly ruined but still you can go inside and walk in the hallways and even go under ground from one fort to another. It needs good legs as the stairs go down 200 m and then up as much. I've been thinking about a trip to Lapland and Norway for a long time already. I've visited Lapland nearly every other year for years but haven't been to Norway for about 35 years. Naturally I cannot remember much of that trip. My original plan for this summer was to ride to Pamir highway but due lack of time and money I had to postpone the trip and stay a little closer to Finland. I knew I could use about a week for the trip so Nordkapp became the goal. As some of you might have seen in Instagram this time I'm not traveling alone. Days 102 - 105 Adelaide - Lake Leake - Bendigo - Yarra Ranges

I spent the Sunday in Adelaide. Nice city with a weird layout. The main center is surrounded by parks named only with numbers. Someone mentioned it was planned by some officer immigrated to Australia a long time ago. On Monday it was time to get back on the road. The weather forecast had promised terrible heat to Adelaide and I decided to escape using coastal route. It was as fascinating as I expected. But maybe my level has risen too much after seeing such an amazing places so far. There was a lot of salt lakes and bushes on the way. Basically nothing else. I had planned to stay on certain camp ground on the beach but as I got there I noticed the place was only suitable for campers not tents. Quickly I adopted plan B and headed to Lake Leake about 40 km north. That was a beautiful place. It rained in the night but luckily my tent really appeared to be waterproof.
