Day 179 Kennedy Space Center

I spent most of the Sunday in Kennedy Space Center at Merritt island. It seems my trip has turned into a trip to moon. This is the place they launched the rocket to moon (among other trips to space). Houston took care of flight control and Canberra took care of the communication. Now I've visited all these remarkable places. "You can say nothing more than take your hat off" would one Finnish celebrity say about the astronauts and all the people who have made these unbelievable things to happen.

The guide said: "you are about to enter one of the most secret places in the US so take a lit of photos." I did as ordered (at least once in my life) and took lots of photos. Here you are!

Rocket park

Astronaut hall of fame

Road that is used to deliver the rockets to the launch pad

Launch pad 39A

SpaceX's rocket transporting vehicle made by Ferrari. World's slowest Ferrari.

Apollo V

No more flat tires

Two out of three lost astronauts in the accident of Apollo IX were ex boy scouts

This one really has been to space

They say this is the world's biggest building. Height about 160 meters. Door height 140 meters. It takes 45 minutes to close the doors.

Atlantic. A shuttle that was the last one on a mission.

A piece of Challenger's wing. Challenger exploded after take off in 1986 only 73 seconds after the launch.

That's like in many other professions. Except the recognition part.

Different types of Mars crawlers

This crawler is made of LEGOs

Interesting place indeed. I can recommend Kennedy Space Center to anyone who is at least little interested in the history, present and future of space exploration.
