Day 4 - Kotelnich - Perm

22101 - 22705 604km

This morning an old quest of the hotel said to me "Holotna!" Even thought I don't understand much of Russian I clearly understood that. It was damn cold! But good thing was that it didn't rain. The original plan was to ride as far as Yekaterinburg but during the day it became clear that it was impossible. As the hotel room last night wasn't very warm almost all my gear was still moist. And that meant I was freezing most of the time.

The actual driving was uneventful. The most interesting part was when a policeman stopped me somewhere near Kirov. He even spoke some English. He just wanted to see my driver's license and was happy after seeing that. Actually I showed him a fake one. As some might know I made a couple of copies of my license in case someone wants to take it away. I really don't want lose the original one.

At some point it started to rain again. And then came the road works. Waiting for about 20 minutes just to get one kilometer forward and the wait another 20 minutes. The road conditions vary. Not as much as yesterday. Actually I faced no grave today but very different levels of asphalt. Smooth, new pavement and one filled with potholes and some sort of fixes of those potholes. The worse the surface the faster is the motorcycle compared to the cars. Yesterday on the sandy sections the cars went walking phase. I passed them easily with 60 km/h or even more. It's so much easier to find a suitable route for two wheels in one line than four wheels in two lines.

The shaking definitely has it's costs. Yesterday other of the extra lights I assembled fell of. I cut the wires and put the light to the bag. Today the phone charging jack apparently broke. I cannot charge the LG anymore while moving. Too bad as I don't trust Zumo at all in navigation.

In the late afternoon I got to a nice hotel in Perm. And what a nice surprise! The nice girl of the reception speaks quite fluent English. Even thought she said "some English, not so good" it was actually pretty good. She shoved me how to get to a supermarket and even tried find the best possible place for the bike.

This is what I call a hotel room!!! Sorry about the mess. I just got the rain gear undressed when I took the picture.

Well. It seems I'm on a new time zone. The phone tells it is already 20:21 and this computer says 18:21. Either the phone is wrong or I have passed one tome zone without even noticing...

Sorry. No more photos. It is practically impossible to take photos when it's raining almost all the time.
