Days 51-53 Bangkok

I had to start Friday by packing. As I changed my plans and didn't go to Pattaya as I originally planned I had to change hotel. I had booked another, a bit cheaper hotel few kilometers further alongside a subway line.

So after breakfast I packed my bag pack and started walking towards the subway station. The problem was that I had no idea how the system worked and as I was tired from having messed up stomach at previous night I wasn't in the mood to study. So I took my chances and took a scooter taxi. Well, that was for sure an adventure. The guy drove like 60-80 km/hwith that quite small "motorcycle". The traffic is quite hectic and of course I had no gear. No jacket, protective trousers or even helmet. At some point we drove wrong way on a highway. The driver had to ask for directions at least four times and call to the hotel twice. I wouldn't call that very professional. And I had shown him the place in the map.

The rest of the day I basically rest at the hotel. My stomach and constant heat and changing hotel had sucked all my energy. I really didn't feel like going anywhere.

On Saturday morning I felt a lot better. Still I felt a little tired but I decided to take a trip to Chinatown. This time I took the subway which turned out to be quite a pleasant solution. I drove to the end of blue line and walked towards Chinatown. In one corner a tuktuk driver asked me what I was looking. He told Chinatown opens at 3 p.m. so he took me to a ride. It was wild as usual...

After driving around with tuktuk I walked the rest of the way to Chinatown. As they say: "when you have seen one Chinatown you've seen them all". It really didn't vary much from others I have seen. Cheap, low quality garbage sold in stalls. Narrow alleys and a lot of people. What draw my attention was a huge amount of jewelries. There were so much golden chains hanging on the walls that I've never seen that much gold altogether.

After walking in Chinatown it was time to take a Subway back to the hotel. I was exhausted. I really didn't fresh. So all the evening I just stayed in the room and did nothing.

Sunday was a day of Shopping malls. I had read about shopping mall called Terminal 21. I'm not shopper but that mall was definitely worth seeing! Each floor had it's own characteristics according to the city it was called. San Francisco, London, Tokyo, Paris. Brand shops selling clothes, Cafe's, restaurants etc. I ate some "street food". The price was double compared to the price in the street but at least the circumstances were somehow cleaner and more hygienic. And still it was cheap.

I walked around in the mall at least 1,5 hours just looking. It really was something... But then it was time to move on to another mall. I had read about a mall that was concentrated in electronics and cameras. And it really was like that. Smaller and bigger shops selling whatever you can imagine in the field of electronics. Cameras, computers, studio equipment (both camera and sound), even instruments and Hi-Fi. A lot to see...

In the evening I took a walk to a night bazaar nearby. But there was nothing for me. And apparently to none other as I was practically the only customer walking on the empty halls.
